Although Delyer was first introduced to the Pilates method when she was 14, it was several years before she found the concentration, coordination, and control that was necessary to fully embrace the art form. At 19 her dance career took backseat to the process of recovery from the car accident that kept her off her feet for 9 months. Even after struggling with pain, stiffness, and re-evaluation of her career choice, she began dancing again.
Faced with overcoming this obstacle, Delyer turned to Pilates. She began to rehabilitate her body under the guidance of Karen Clippinger. After experiencing the benefits of Pilates firsthand, she received her Pilates Certification from Body Arts and Sciences International with emphasis in dance conditioning. After teaching Pilates and dancing professionally for several years she also became interested in more rigorous forms of athletic training and became certified as a Personal Trainer & Corrective Exercise Specialist through the National Academy of Sports Medicine. In addition to instructing private training sessions and group classes here at AURA, Delyer currently serves on faculty of the Orange Coast College Pilates Certificate program.
